Glaminator Beauty Bar

3 Skin-Care Trends to Watch in 2020

If 2019 was the year that glowing, makeup-free skin became the ultimate external expression of self-care from inside out, then you know by now that the  future looks even greener and cleaner. Stemming from experience, our own guests here at Glaminator Beauty Bar are more actively self-educating. They are checking labels for ingredients, watching videos and becoming curious about clean beauty, which often involves using ingredients that you might find on your plate rather than synthetically made in a lab.

All you should want to do is show off your beautiful healthy skin.
Here’s what you can expect to see more of in the future:

1. Clean Beauty, for Better or Worse, is Sticking Around
Clean beauty is a vague term. Anything with organic or natural ingredients can be marketed as “clean,” but the problem is that none of those terms are regulated. “Organic” can mean multiple things, but typically, it means no pesticides were used or that most of the ingredients were grown organically.

2. Sustainable, or Green, Beauty will Remain on Trend
The green, or sustainable, beauty trend, also called eco-beauty, is part of a larger life philosophy, an approach to self-care that emphasizes not being so engrossed in the mirror that you kick the earth to the curb. “Sustainability is a very positive movement from beauty to fashion and beyond. The term green beauty has taken on many meanings, but the most common ideal is a complete avoidance or minimization of synthetic preservatives and synthetic fragrance. Green beauty isn’t just about the ingredients in your skin care — it’s also about the packaging. An increasing number of beauty companies are transitioning packaging away from single-use plastics, for instance, and creating recyclable containers.

3. Skin Care will Get Even More Personalized, Thanks to Technology
Technology will make it easier to deliver more personalized product formulas.
For now, though, the customization is generally limited to quizzes, which can help identify your profile and skincare preferences.

While these approaches to customized skin care are still fairly basic, DNA testing and AI are becoming more frequently used. Many at-home beauty devices, for example, use apps to diagnose skin issues and educate users on their skin type, which, eliminates the user error and misdiagnosis that can occur in other personalization profile quizzes. Until tech is mastered, your individualized skin-care regimen can be achieved from a consultation with a board-certified dermatologist who can examine your skin and discuss your goals and challenges.
