How To Sweat-Proof Your Summer Makeup

It’s finally starting to feel like summer! We can’t wait to wear maxi dresses and straw hats, but not looking forward to the infamous tri-state heatwaves (nobody wants their makeup running during brunch). To sweatproof your summer look, we compiled a list of how to keep your makeup intact:

Opt for a tinted moisturizer
For your everyday look, say goodbye to full coverage foundation. Instead, visit your favorite department store (or drugstore!) to find an oil-free lightweight tinted moisturizer. It’s practically a facial moisturizer that also has a slight tint with makeup pigments. The right one can provide light coverage while also hydrating your skin and leaving a glowing finish.

Apply moisturizer

Whether it’s a liquid or powder foundation, applying primer immediately after your moisturizer can help keep your makeup from sliding off with your sweat. Depending on your preference, some primers will keep you matte, and others will give you that healthy, shimmery glow.
Primers are applied after moisturizers. However, if you’re only wearing a tinted moisturizer, you might want to apply the primer first as the tint provides light coverage.

Get a lash lift

Leave the mascara in your makeup bag this summer and enhance your natural lashes. Our Glaminator Lash Lifting services make your eyes appear like you have extensions. No adhesives or additional extensions are required. The treatment lifts, curls, and defines your natural lashes to make them look longer and fuller. For optimal safety, cream based solutions keep your eyes and their lashes healthy. At the end, lashes are tinted to complete the look. Results are expected to last 6-8 weeks.
If you prefer lash extensions, we offer that too!

Go for a powder foundation

Although it might not give you full coverage, powder foundation is perfect in the summer because it helps combat the excess oils from the hot and humid days. They’re also perfect for touching up on the go. Powder foundations are your best friend for touching up on the go.

Don’t forget the SPF (now in powder form too!)

High-performing SPF powders offer additional sun protection, absorb excess oil, and even out your complexion without feeling heavy. They’re perfect for those of us who choose to wear makeup in the summer but don’t want the greasy feeling of a lotion.

Remove excess oil

Before you touch up your makeup with a powder, try removing excess oil with a blotting paper. They’re made with extremely absorbent material that can remove any liquid, and are perfect for removing sweat and oil from your skin.

Set your makeup with a spray

For a smudge-free, melt-free look, a setting spray might be your best choice. It’s a mist you spray all over your face (about 6-8 inches away) after makeup. In the summer months, we recommend setting sprays with mattifying qualities as they have ingredients that are better at preventing your makeup from smudging. But if you prefer a dewy look, opt for a lightweight spray to prolong your makeup, and look for products that include hydrating ingredients like green tea, vitamin B, aloe vera, or vitamin E.
